Stock in 10 YTD winners which should not be there

Hi Vidas :)

I have a stock which appears in my 10 YTD winners section on the Dashboard tab (See images).

I 2016-06-10 I purchased 10000 shares of ASO.TO for $.055 per share for a total of $550 (plus 9.95 fee = 559.95), and then on 2017-01-30 I sold it for $.03 per share for a total of $300 (less 9.95 for fees = 290.05).

This stock appears as one of my top winners for a profit of 45.03%.

Could you point me in the direction as to how to correct this.

Thanks

  • Could you please check what is the price in your database for this symbol on Dec 31, 2016 and then on Jan 31st 2017.
If you are good with pivot tables - could you please create new pivot table that shows monthly profit % for that symbol in 2017 and check if you see any strange data.
  • Hi Vidas

The following prices are from the quotes folder...

    2016-11-30,0.03,TSE:ASO
    2016-12-30,0.02,TSE:ASO
    2017-01-31,0.04,TSE:ASO
    2017-02-28,0.05,TSE:ASO

I don't know how to do pivot tables...but am good at following directions :)
  • So if you look at prices, that stock was trading for 0.02 on dec 31, 2016 and price went up to 0.04 on jan 31, 2017. So year to date (YTD) symbol increased in price 100%! You sold for 0.03, so 50% profit
  • But if I purchased it for .055 and then sold it for .03 (sold at a loss), I don't understand how it can be considered in my winners list.
  • YTD winners list is calculated based on profit % value Year To Date. We take price of the symbol on the last day of previous year and compare that to price now or when you sold. So this calculation does not care for how much you originally paid for symbol, but cares about the price from the start of the period!
  • Okay gotcha. Now I understand :)
  • If you will look at that report - at the top you will see filter: Years-Current with value "Yes". If that report does not make sense to you, you can remove that filter and add another filter from "Dates" table, for example: "Years-Last 2" with value "Yes". Or you can change "Years-Current" filter value from "Yes" to "All" and that will show Top 10 of your All time performances.
  • Thanks Vidas...I will play around with it :)
