How far back to go

I have data as far back as 2003 for some funds. I started my min date at 12/31/2008. For the funds that were started previous to that would you take there value at the beginning of 2009?.

Just want to add, I was using Google for tracking but now they are removing that feature mid Nov. I cam across your site during search and I am very happy to have found it. Great work.

  • If your min date is 2008-12-31, then you have 8+ years of data and I believe that is good enough to figure out how your investments are doing. It will take some time to enter all transactions for 8+ years, but you can do some shortcuts - for example, you could sum dividends paid over year and for each symbol put one dividend payment in the middle of the year.
  • Thank you and will use your advice about the dividends.
