Setup problems

Hi, I'm setting up PortfolioSlicer (v3.1.0) for the first time. I've edited the psconfig file successfully, have downloaded information, and begun entering transactions in the portfolioslice-source file.

I'm receiving a couple of errors when I refresh connections in the portfolioslicer3.1-reports file:
> couldn't refresh the table "symbol" from connection "symbol" (I've checked, the symbol file does exist);
> similar message for table "CompareTo" (could NOT find a file named 'compareto').

Thanks for the help, I'd love to begin using this tool!

  • So after you enter a few transactions, you need to do following:
    1. Close Excel workbook PortfolioSlicer-Source.xlsx. I have seen that sometimes scripts cannot properly extract data from Excel file if *Source.xlsx is open.
    2. Execute UpdatePSData.bat file. This will download quotes and currency exchange info and also will extract data from PortfolioSlicer-Source.xslx file.
    3. Go to c:\PortfolioSlicer\PSData folder. There you should see 17 files. Please confirm that you see there 17 files Account.csv, Allocation.csv...TransType.csv. Please confirm that dates of these files matches date/time when you executed UpdatePSData.bat file.

  • Thanks, I'll give that a try.
  • So - turns out the issue was Excel's trust centre. Once I updated those settings to include the folder where I'm storing the data, everything worked perfectly. Thank you so much!!
  • Hi, I am new as well and having the same trouble but the Excels trust issue did not seem to fix it.
    c:\PortfolioSlicer\PSData folder I have 6 files
    Currencyconv
    Dates
    Dividends
    Quotes
    Transactions

    Notepad (Schema)
    Notepad (Error)
any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • BETSY - I need more info from you. c:\PortfolioSlicer\PSData folder should have 17 files. If that is not the case, something is not setup right. Do you get any errors when you executed scripts? If so, please post them here.
