Proper Way to Record a Special Distribution

Hello, I am looking for the proper way to record a special distribution.

Brookfield Renewable Partners (BEP) created a new corporation, Brookfield Renewable Corporation (BEPC), where stakeholders of BEP received 1 share of BEPC for every 4 shares held of BEP.

I recorded this as 2 transactions:
1. BEP - ROC - for the transaction amount (it was reported as ROC on my statement so i think this is correct)
2. BEPC is recorded as a buy for the same amount
