Norbert's Gambit and Journaling Shares

Hi there,

I was wondering what is the best way to track journaling shares from one exchange to another all within, say, an RRSP.

For example,
1)Buy 300 DLR.TO @ 13.03CAD for $3,909CAD
2)Journal 300 DLR.TO to 300 DLR.U.TO worth 10.01USD
3)Sell 300 DLR.U.TO @ 10.01 USD for $3,003USD (less commission)

Would you enter into src trans as: (first set up a USD RRSP and a CAD RRSP acount in src)?
1)Buy 300 DLR.TO @ 13.03CAD
2)SymbolTransferOut Qty =300 price=13.03CAD (CAD RRSP account)
3)SymbolTransferin DLR.U.TO Qty=300 price=10.01USD (USD RRSP)
4)Sell DLR Qty=300 price =10.01USD (USD RRSP)

Comments

  • Yes, that is correct way of doing this. Do not forget buy/sell transaction fee.
    Example:

If transactions are not on the same day, then you should have quotes for these symbols.
