Dividends in Version 3.1

Just migrated over to Version 3.1..(easier than i thought it would be...thanks!! ) ..and wanted to clarify something if i could. I understand that we are no longer able to automatically retrieve dividend data from the web, but, if I manually fill in the dividend.csv data for each stock...will Version 3.1 calculate the dividend report? I am getting numbers on the dividend report page, but they do not make sense.....

No, v3.1 will not use dividend.csv file to get dividends. You will have to enter dividend transactions manually.

Understood....however, once i have entered the dividend information manually, the program is supposed to populate the dividend tab? Is that correct?

Once you entered transactions with type Div, DivTA, you should see data in Reports Dividends worksheet.

I think I understand now, but just before i go and re-write a bunch of my transactions. (not complaining, just wanting to be sure before i do it...) I want to make sure. In the past, I did not have PS track cash, but rather, I entered transactions for dividends and just called them "buy" transactions for an asset I called "money" I also downloaded the dividend data from the web and did that manually once YAHOO changed and made that necessary. Thus, i was able to see dividend data and also track cash in my account with a seperate entity I called money.

If Version 3, i se that, when i run the UpdatePS batch, it creates a file called "dividends" and that the historic dividend data is in there. Am I correct that it is NOT using that file for anything? Rather, it looks in transactions for DIV type transactions and only uses them now? If so, does it see that money from the transacton as "cash" (so i need to be tracking cash in order for that dividend money to show up in PS?)

External scripts for v2.x and v3.x are the same - this is done so that they can be used for both versions on purpose - easier support. But for v3.x even dividends.csv file is created, it is never loaded into PowerPivot model and it is never used.
